The Yellow Ball Classic is the premier all-star water polo event in Central California, bringing together the top athletes from CMAC, TRAC, TCC, EYL, CIAL and CVAL for an unforgettable showdown. Now in its fourth year, this highly anticipated event celebrates the region’s best talent, offering players, coaches, and fans an exciting day of elite competition. Hosted by Praetorian WPC in November, the event showcases six thrilling games, from junior high to varsity, highlighting the skill and dedication of Central Valley’s finest. With a lively atmosphere, competitive matchups, and a strong sense of community, the Yellow Ball Classic is the ultimate display of water polo excellence. Don’t miss the chance to witness the best all-star game in the Valley—where legends are made in the pool!

Experience the thrill of the mini season and playoffs  during the winter

First three weekends in January

AGE GROUPS:  10U CoEd/ 12U Boys-Girls or CoEd / 14U Boys-Girls / 16U Boys-Girls / 19U Boys-Girls

GENDER: Boys and Girls and CoEd divisions  

8-9 games guaranteed for each team 

Deadline to enter the league is December 17th. 

LEAGUE PLAY DATES: First three weekends in January.

LEAGUE FORMAT: First two weekends are local conference play. Third weekend is the playoffs.

LEAGUE RULES

6 minute quarters.      

1 Full Time-out per game.

Each team plays three games on each date. Total of three playdates or 9 games.

League Scoring
Win = 4 points / Shootout Win = 3 points / Shootout loss = 2 points / Loss = 1 point
Forfeit = 0 points - In addition, you will have to pay a $50 fine to compete in your next contest  

PRICE: $1345 per team

California State Team - Events and Tournaments

 

Best water polo players in California will compete in three events in order to make the California State Team. 

Top 14 Players in each grade level will ultimately become the members of the state team and they will get an opportunity to defend the state colors in the Cal Cup State Finals and World Cup tournament in Barcelona.

  • CST Day 1 - 3P Testing

    • Open to all boys and girls (7th grade up to 12th grade)​

  • CST Day 2 - Round Robin Tournament

    • Open to up to 50 players in each grade level who received the best 3P testing grade.​

  • CST Day 3 - Showcase Game

    • Open to top 24 players in each grade level who received the best grade after 3P testing and round robin tournament.​

  • Cal Cup State Finals - First Tournament in SoCal

    • Open to top 14 players in each grade level who were selected to represent the California State Team.​

  • WPE Cup - Second Tournament in Barcelona

    • Open to top 14 players on the 11th - 12th grade level who were selected to represent the California State Team.​​

TOURNAMENT RULES
6 minute quarters (18U/16U/14U)
5 minute quarters (12U/10U)
1 timeout per game.
All tie games will end in a shootout.

3 games per team, 8 teams max per division, Platinum and Gold.

Registration are due no later than one week before the event.

Firecracker Showdown

Beach Water Polo - 4 on 4

Location: Delta College (Stockton)

Who Can Play: High School Boys & Girls (Grades 9-12) 

Cost: $275 (4 games)​

Rules:

  • Maximum course size: 15M x 10M width

  • Unlimited players per team roster and no club affiliation. You can play with friend from other clubs.

  • 3 field players and a goalkeeper.  

  • American Water Polo membership Required.

  • 1 parent or coach representative during games. (Must be 18yrs or older)

  • This is a fast-moving finesse game where nearly any contact is a foul.

  • Any TWO-HAND FOUL is an EXCLUSION!!!

  • Live time substitution from defensive half, direct shot after foul outside 5 meters, direct shot also allowed from corner throw, exclusions touch either defensive corner and return to play immediately, any foul committed before excluded player touches corner results in 5-meter penalty.

  • Personal fouls are not recorded, however two-hand fouls are exclusions. 

  • Matches are two 10 minute periods of straight play with 5 minutes between the two halves. 

  • If the current game is tied then a penalty shootout of 3 shots per team will decide that game. 

  • HAVE FUN!!!

California State Challenge

July 11-12, 2026

 

Last big test before the JOs for all teams that have qualified for JOs.

Perfect last summer tournament for all teams that didn't qualify for JOs.

Prizes, medals and great facilities.

AGE GROUPS:  10U,12U CoEd/ 14U Boys-Girls / 16U Boys-Girls / 18U Boys-Girls / Open Division

WHERE: Central California (Greater Fresno Area)  

FACILITIES: Sanger H.S., Reedley H.S., Clovis East H.S., and other great pools in the greater Fresno County area.
COST: $650 per team

FORMAT: 4 games guaranteed 

(2 games on Saturday July 12, 2 games on Sunday July 13)

AWARDS: Medals for top 3 finishers in each age group.

Champions in each division will receive $ prize depending on the amount of teams that participate in the event.

Prize amount per teams entered:

4 teams - $500 / 5 teams - $640 / 6 teams - $750 / 7 teams - $880 / 8 teams or more - $1000

Deadline to register for the California State Challenge is June 29th. 

REGISTRATION: Complete the google form and pay $650 to Praetorian WPC.

Entries are due no later than JULY 10. If paid after the deadline there will be additional $100 charge to your tournament fee. Be sure to indicate what age group are you entering along with entry fee.
